Bhaktapur, Aug 7: Nepal Workers and Peasants Party Chair Narayanman Bijukchhe has said federalism is becoming a complex problem for the country.
Taking part in an interaction programme among the youth and students organisations organised by party-affiliated Nepal Revolutionary Students’ Association here today, he claimed that federalism was not the agenda of the people’s movement-2006 led by the seven political parties. “This imported agenda was forcefully introduced to the Nepali politics after the success of the people’s movement”, he said.
He was of the view that the country would witness timely development if the local bodies were granted autonomy and 50 per cent of the budget. The country must not be allowed to be used as a platform to practice international politics, the NWPP Chair said, accusing intense foreign meddling in the matter of federalism in Nepal.
Nepali Congress youth leader and Nepal Tarun Dal’s former president Binod Kayastha said differences among the political parties regarding the national agenda would weaken the country. Unity among the political parties is always a must to see a prosperous Nepal.
ANNFSU former Chair and CPN (UML)’s Ram Kumari Jhankri said federalism was not the need of the country and the model of state restructuring was not appropriate.
ANNISU ( Revolutionary) former Chair Lekhnath Neupane said only geographical division was not the implementation of federalism.
Maoist Center central secretariat member Dilip Kumar Prajapati, ANNFSU Chair Nabina Lama, NRSA Chair Niraj Labaju, ANNISU ( sixth) Chair Krishna Adhikari and former chair Durga Sharma, student leader Purna Bahadur Singh sought meaningful participation of youths in Nepali politics. RSS
