Mangalbare, Ilam, March 18 (RSS): Mechinagar municipality, Jhapa clinched the first Suryodaya Mayor Cup Invitational Football tournament that concluded here Saturday.

In the final match, Mechninagar defeated host Suryodaya municipality by 3-0 in a tie-breaker to win the cup. The match went to penalties after it ended in a 3-3 draw in the regular time.

Along with the title, Mechinagar won Rs. 125,000 in cash while Suryadoya had to be content with Rs. 75,000 in cash and medals and certificates.

A total of 11 municipalities from Ilam, Paanchthar and Jhapa districts competed in the event held at the Karfok sports ground at ward no. 10 of Suryodaya municipality.
