Kathmandu, Aug 2: The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee (PHSC) has carried out hearing of five, out of 22, proposed ambassadors today.
The PHSC carried out hearing of Sewa Lamsal Adhikari, Tara Prasad Pokharel, Prakash Kumar Subedi, Dr Durga Bahadur Subedi and Rishiram Ghimire. All are Joint-Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The government had recommended Lamsal as the ambassador for Pakistan, Pokharel for Brazil, Subedi for the United Nations Office in Vienna, Dr Durga for the UK and Ghimire for Russia.
Presenting their agendas in course of hearing, the proposed ambassadors expressed commitment to further strengthen and expand the bilateral relations and give emphasis on economic diplomacy. “Our attention will be to maintain Nepal’s prestige and glory. Necessary initiatives will be taken for peace and development. New dimensions of relations will be sought.”
Hearing of the remaining three proposed ambassadors from the foreign affairs service will be carried out on Wednesday morning.
The government had recommended 22 ambassadors and chiefs of mission including eight from foreign affairs service and the remaining from various backgrounds. RSS
