Kathmandu, Aug 13: Nepal Students Union (NSU) – the student wing of Nepali Congress – will commence its 11th General Convention election process starting from Sunday.
The Generation Convention, which started last Sunday, was marred by dispute over delegates from 11 districts freezing the leadership selection process. The Directive Committee formed by the mother party on Tuesday midnight resolved the problem over the dispute but the publication of the name list of the GC delegates continued to stall progress.
Efforts are underway to give final shape to the delegates’ name list, Election Committee Coordinator Bharat Prasad Kharel said.
“We will publish the final name list by 5 pm in NC website, tomorrow the nomination paper will be registered; the objection, claims, withdrawal leading up to publication of the final name list will take place after which election will be held on Monday,” he said.
The delegates are however in confusion although the Directive Committee and the Election Committee are mending the dispute and giving final shape to the name list, Sindhupalchowk’s delegate Tej Bahadur Baniya said.
The NSU GC, which was inaugurated by NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba on August 7, has not been able to hold closed-door session. The Election Committee has stated that the GC will head to election without holding the closed-door session. RSS
