Chitwan, Aug 17: The death toll in the Fisling road accident that occurred last evening has reached four. Earlier, three people were confirmed dead in a head-on collision between two passenger buses at Fisling of Chitwan along the Prithivi highway.
A bus (Lu 1 Kha 9361) was heading towards Kathmandu from Bhairahawa when it collided with another bus (Na 4 Kha 4516) en route to Dharan from Kathmandu, according to the District Police Office, Chitwan.
Among the deceased, two have been identified as Manju Gautam, 22, of Jugam VDC-8, Gulmi and her 10-month-old son, District Police Office Chitwan’s Superintendent of Police Deepak Shrestha said. The mother and son died in course of treatment in Chitwan Medical College while other two breathed their last at Gajuri while being taken to the capital for treatment.
Of the injured, 18 are underway treatment in Chitwan Medical College, one is in Narayani Community Hospital and nine have been sent to the capital.
Over-speeding is likely to be the cause of the fatal accident, police said. RSS
