Dhading, Sept 23: The District Forest Office has pulled down the building of Radio Dhading 106 megahertz at Nilkantha Municipality-8 in the district today morning. The building housing women security office was also demolished.
The building of the radio station was built inside the Amarawati Community Forest and that the DFO is reported to have resorted to the move as ‘the building was erected on the encroached forest land’.
The buildings were destroyed with the help of police and Armed Police Force at 4:00 am.
A dozer was also used. Local people said the concerned authorities resorted to the move early in the morning to avoid any possible protest as their earlier attempt to pull down the buildings failed after local people protested.
Employees of the radio station complained that they could not even take their belongings from the office before the demolition.
Meanwhile, CPN-UML, Dhading condemned the incident. Such act has illustrated prejudice and the irresponsibility of government sectors and local administration, the UML said, adding that it has also made mockery of the rule of law. RSS
