Upon arrival at the Dubai Canal Marine, the site of the water canal, the President was received by UAE protocol officers. The water canal is a man-made infrastructure.

The canal was opened for sea transport in 2013 but was inaugurated on November 9, 2016. The canal passes by Dubai city centre, four hotels, 450 restaurants and high level housing. There are also a cycling lane and footpath along the canal.

It is 80 to 120 metres wide and six metres deep. The canal has been built on an eight metres high bridge occupying an area of approximately 80 thousand square metres. Private ships and steamers ply on the canal.

Accompanying the President on the occasion were the Minister for Supplies Jayant Chand, UAE’s ambassador for Nepal, Saeed Hamdan al-Naqbi, Nepal’s Charge d’ Affaires to UAE, Netra Bahadur Tandon, President’s daughter Nisha Kusum Bhandari and other members on the President’s entourage.
