Rescue operation begins to bring out workers trapped in tunnel

Rasuwa, June 21 (RSS): Efforts are underway to rescue 17 workers- 11 Nepalis and 6 Chinese- who were trapped in the under-construction tunnel of Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project last night. 

All workers are however safe as they were able to get oxygen, according to the Project Chief Chhabi Gaire. 

The workers were trapped in the tunnel due to dry landslide last night, said chief of police in the district, Bhagendra Purush Dhakal, adding that the joint team of Nepal Army, Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force was mobilized to bring out the trapped workers. 

The incident occurred 28 km north of the district headquarters. The rescue operation is intensified with the leadership of Chief District Officer, Arjun Bhandari. Detailed information about the incident awaited, the police added.
