Butwal, March 25: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Cooperatives Development Chitra Bahadur KC has said that the trade and transit agreement reached between Nepal and China during the Prime Minister’s visit to China was a historical achievement.

Inaugurating the third national gathering of Progressive Journalists’ Association that began here Friday, DPM KC said that the agreement would put an end to the dependency of Nepal on only one country.

Minister for Cooperatives KC also emphasized that the cooperatives movement should be for economic development of the country, but it has not yet been the case so far.

Privatization of industries in the name of liberalization gave rise to unemployment and thereby forced the youth force to leave the country in search for employment, he said.

A total of 105 delegates from 52 districts of the country are taking part in the two-day gathering, according to the Association’s Rupandehi Chair Shyam Lal Pokharel. RSS
