Salyan, April 28: Police made public a man accused of murdering four persons at Chhaya Chhetra-9 in Salyan two days ago amid a press conference here on Thursday.
Sanjaya Bharati of Chhaya Chhetra was arrested with the help of a sniper dog named ‘Bhunti’ from the Dog Section of the Mid Western Regional Police Office, Kohalpur, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Shyam Bahadur Chhetri. He added that the dog tracked the direction where the suspect fled after committing the crime, through a sniff.
Police said that Bharati murdered Sita Khad, 23, of Chhaya Chhetra-9, her two daughters—two-year-old Pabitra and 11-month Sabita–and her 18-year-old sister Gita Giri in the evening on April 26.
At the press conference, Bharati confessed to the crime, police said. “Aunti (Sita) invited me to have selroti (round-shaped dish made from wheat flour) on that evening. But I reached at 9:00 pm under the influence of alcohol. Following a dispute with Aunti later, I went outside and returned with a plank and hit Aunti and others family members with it,” Bharati said.
The District Police Office said that the District Court added five more days to remand Bharati in police custody for further investigation into the case. RSS
