
Kathmandu, May 3: Government is all set to present its policy and programme in the parliament on May 8. President Bidya Devi Bhandari will present the government’s policy and programme at 4:00 pm the same day.
Similarly, the Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel will present the budget of the new fiscal year at 4:00 pm on May 28.
The parliament secretariat today provided the schedules in this regard to the chief whips and whips of the political parties in the business advisory committee meeting today.
It is scheduled that issues related to the post quake reconstruction projects would be discussed on May 4 and 5.
Likewise, pre-budget discussion would be held on May 6 and 7. The parliament secretary has informed that the parties are agreed to present the government policy and programme on May 8.
The assessment and amendment of the policy and programme will take place from 11 am to 4 pm on May 9.
The parliament will deliberate on the policy and programme from May 10 to 12 and it will be presented for final approval on May 13.
The parliamentary session will be put on hold from May 14 to 25 in view of the political parties’ mobilization of volunteers for post-quake reconstruction as per the announcement made by the government.
On May 26, the country’s economic survey will be presented whereas it was proposed that the general discussion on the budget be held from May 30 to June 1.
The Finance Minister will answer to the question raised on the budget on June 2 after which parliamentary meeting will continue from June 3 to 14.
The policy and programme and pre-budget discussion will generally be held from 11 am to 5 pm, said Parliamentary Secretariat, Joint Spokesperson Sudarshan Kuinkel.
A 12-hour timeframe has been allocated for discussion taking place on May 4 and 5 for post-quake reconstruction and contemporary issues for which time allocation has been divided among the lawmakers on party basis. RSS
