Nawalparasi, May 14: The Buddha Jayanti Mela – 2073 is to held on the occasion of 2560th Buddhya Jayanti or the birth anniversary of Buddha in Nawalparasi.

The carnival is being held on May 21 to mark Buddha Jayanti as well as for publicity of the Ramgram Stupa, said Buddha Jayanti Mela Main Ceremony Committee Coordinator, Shambhu Upadhaya.

The carnival will showcase sporting events, cultural programmes, Buddha sermon recitation, exhibition of photos related to Buddha, screening of a documentary, foot festival and commercial retail shops.

The programmes will start from May 18 itself. The Buddha’s relics in ashes are entombed inside the Ramgram Stupa. RSS
