
Lumbini (Rupandehi), May 18: Twenty-one complaints related to different incidents that took place in course of the decade-long conflict have been registered at the Local Peace Committee, Rupandehi.
Of the complaints registered so far, 20 are related to truth and reconciliation while one is related to investigation of enforced disappeared persons, Santosh Poudel, office secretary at the Local Peace Committee, Rupandehi, said.
The local peace committee has been receiving complaints ever since the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission of Investigation of Enforced Disappeared Persons called for complaints related to the conflict era.
The deadline for submitting complaints related to investigation of enforced disappeared persons is until June 14 while that of truth and reconciliation is until June 16.
As per the records with the local peace committee, 151 people were killed in course of the conflict in Rupandehi district. Of them, 47 are said to have been killed in incidents perpetrated by the State side while 54 were killed in incidents perpetrated by the then rebel side and 50 were killed when caught in exchange of fire by the two sides.
Similarly, eight people are said to have been disappeared and 18 rendered physically disabled in the course of the conflict in Rupandehi district. RSS
