Journalists demand action against Sen’s murderers

Kathmandu, May 26:  Journalists here have urged the government to take action against those involved in the murder of progressive journalist Krishna Sen Ichchhuk who was killed 14 years ago.

Speaking on the 14th memorial day of the journalist Sen, here in the capital today, the speakers demanded action against the culprits, expressing dissatisfaction as no action was taken so far against the culprits.

His spouse, Takma KC, stressed on materializing Sen’s dream and idealism as he scarified his life for the same.

Similarly, Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) President Dr Mahendra Bista said that Ichhuk was the mainstream journalist rather than of any one side. He added that he was not murdered in action during the conflict period as he was killed taking him under control.

Similarly, Revolutionary Journalists Association coordinator Govinda Acharya also demanded stern action against the culprits adding that his murderers were awarded rather than being punished.

Press Chautari chair Ganesh Basnet pointed out the need of respecting the idealism of late Sen.  Similarly representatives of different journalists associations had addressed the programme.

On the occasion, the award instituted in the hounour of Sen was provided to journalist Nim Bahadur Budhathoki. The award carries the purse of Rs 10, 000.

A morning rally was organized from Rantapark to Bhrikutimandap in honour of Sen this morning. Sen was murdered on 27th May 2002.   RSS
