DPM Rayamajhi bats for national unity govt

Kathmandu, June 4: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy Top Bahadur Rayamajhi has spoken of the need for a national unity government.

Speaking at a programme at the Reporters Club here on Saturday, DPM Rayamajhi asserted that the CPN-Maoist Centre, the party which he represents, was on a look out for the alternative to the incumbent government too.

Underscoring the national consensus between the government and the major opposition party- Nepali Congress (NC) – for the greater good of the country, Rayamajhi clarified that the incumbent government will hold onto the rein until such a consensus was forged between these two.

He also pledged to relieve himself of the minister position for the sake of national consensus.

Furthermore, the Energy Minister expressed his confidence that the long hours of power outage plaguing the country will be cut down to five hours at the earliest as the needful efforts and actions were underway for the same in the wake of earthquake and border blockade.

According to him, the Ministry of Energy was also effortful to curb the leakage of electricity.

Citing that the newly unveiled budget estimates for fiscal year 2016/017 had prioritized the development of energy sector, DPM Rayamajhi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to complete the construction of the eight major hydro electrify power projects to make the country self-reliant in the energy sector.
