Local bodies’ election necessary for constitution implementation: Deuba

Bhaktapur, June 6: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that local bodies’ election was necessary for the implementation of the new constitution.

The NC President said so while addressing the fourth anniversary function of Martyr Radheshyam Jonchhe Memorial Foundation here today.

He said, “Implementation of the new constitution is not easy. Local bodies’ election should be held for its implementation. The new constitution will be successfully implemented only if parliament and Upper House election is held.”

The NC President charged that the Oli-led government was apathetic towards the implementation of the new constitution.

Stating that responsibility for the implementation of the new constitution has come on the shoulders of the NC in its capacity of being the largest party, Deuba said, “The incumbent government has not shown interest in implementation of the new constitution. The NC is ready to take leadership for its implementation.”

Similarly, NC central committee member Bimalendra Nidhi said that the budget brought by the government was suicidal and policies and programmes were ridiculous.

Another NC member Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat, lawmaker Rameshwor Dhungel, NC Bhaktapur President Durlav Thapa said that the NC should be active o take leadership of the government.

On the occasion, Deuba provided scholarship of Rs 10,000 to Anu Nayaba, 10th grader at Medha Secondary School, scholarship of Rs 9,000 to Krishna Dhoju, eighth grader at the same school.

Similarly, scholarship of Rs 5,000 was provided to Srijana Ngakhusi of Bageshwori Higher Secondary School and Rupesh Dulal of Deuja Village Lower Secondary School.
Likewise, cash prize was provided to winner of oratory competition. RSS
