Balewa (Baglung), Oct 2: The local youths of the Baglung Bazaar and the adjoining area have launched a campaign to systematize the unruly traffic which has become increasingly congested with growing urbanization.
Under the banner ‘Youths of Baglung’ and bearing a standard slogan ‘Youth for Transformation’, the local youths have effectively invaded the streets to minimize the risk of road accidents.
They have carved zebra crossings at multiple sections of the road where there had not been zebra crossings. “The common people do not even know that they have to use the zebra crossings to cross the roads,” said Suman Regmi, a campaigner with the organization.
The youths have also been launching various awareness programmes in collaboration with the local police.
The local lads have drawn zebra crossings at Malpot Chowk, Hallan Chowk, Dhaulagiri Chowk, Jeep Park and the Kalika temple vicinity among other places, District Traffic Office, Baglung said.
Superintendent of Police (SP), Joshi Banjade, said the police would support the campaign started by the youths as a positive step forward. RSS
