Butwal, Oct 28: Nepali Congress leader and former Finance Minister, Dr Ram Sharan Mahat, today said his party would stand up as a judge in the decision over the impeachment proposal against Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) chief Lokman Singh Karki.

He said Congress would vote with a decision based on facts and truth over impeachment motion tabled in the parliament.

Speaking at a press meet held by Nepal Press Union, Rupandehi in Butwal, Mahat said the impeachment process will move forward but no one should be trapped without solid reasons and that no corrupt person should go free.

The Congress – Maoist government was formed for resolving the Madhes issue and amend the constitution, Mahat pointed out while at the same time accusing Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal of bypassing Congress and taking unilateral decision.

He stressed on the necessity for everyone’s consensus for addressing the Madhes issue and amending the constitution.

“The important task now is to address the Madhes issue, but it cannot be undertaken by Congress alone. We also need UML’s consent; the government’s effort has not been enough,” he said. RSS
