
With communications severed, Subindra Gharti of Hukam – 2 has been forced to head downhill to lower regions in Rukumkot VDC to make a telephone call to his relatives. He has to walk for a day to the lower region to call his brother and relatives who are abroad.
The locals of a dozen villages including Ranmmaikot, Hukam, Kol, Kankri, Mahat and Morawang VDCs have been coming down to Rukumkot to seek telecommunication service.
The villagers are forced to struggle even for minor problems after Sky (GSM) tower broke down and went defunct severing communications with the villagers, according to local teacher, Karna Bahadur KC.
“We are forced to take such pain at a time when everyone has a mobile set in their hands and a phone in each and every houses,” Kol’s resident, Birendra Budha lashed out. “The government has really neglected us,” he lamented.
Nepal Telecom Rukum Branch Chief, Krishna Sharma, said there were aware of the problem in the tower and had informed a technical team which is taking time to arrive. He assured of resolving the problem once the team arrives. RSS
