19 metric tonnes of solid wastage scooped up from major rivers in Ktm valley

Ten metric tonnes of solid waste was collected from Gairigaun to Shantinagar area stretch of the Bagmati River under the Bagmati River Clean-up Campaign that entered 194th week today, according to Rajesh Prakash Singh, chief of the High-Powered Committee for Integrated Development of the Bagmati Civilization.

In attendance in the clean-up drive were the officials from the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, personnel of the Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, Nepal, campaigners as well as the members of public.
It may be noted that four girls from Haridwar Vidyaashram of India also attended the clean-up campaign. According to Singh, they had arrived here for the same purpose.

Similarly, Nepal Telecom officials had also attended the campaign marking the Telecom’s anniversary and had donated gloves and other equipments needed for the campaign.

Meanwhile, around two metric tonnes of garbage was taken out from the Rudramati River from Nilopul to Kopikrishnapul area under the Rudramati Clean-up drive that entered 153rd week today, said Campaigner Rohit Giri.

Similarly, stakeholders and campaigners removed six metric tonnes of wastage from the tributary of the Bishnumati River at Tarakeshwar Municipality under the Bishnumati Clean-up campaign that entered 126th week. . RSS
