Leela was chained by his family when just a toddler as he started showing abnormal behaviour. His rescue was possible after the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) published the news about his wretched living condition on March 13.

Following the news coverage, a team comprising Birtamod-based B&C Hospital’s Durga Prasai, physiatrist Dr Sandip Verma and Assistant Chief District Officer Bhim Prasad Tiwari reached his home and rescued him. The hospital announced free treatment to him.
The hospital bore his all treatment cost, according to Hospital’s Public Relations Officer Pramish Giri.

A medical team also comprising Dr Verma treated him for around two weeks. The hospital discharged him amidst a programme in the hospital today. He has been diagnosed of deficiency of mental development and of epilepsy. Doctors recommended him regular medication for a certain time.

On the occasion, Leela’s mother Januka thanked the RSS, hospital, the local administration and all those who supported in his rescue and treatment. RSS
