At a press conference held to make public the conclusion of the Naya Shakti Party’s Sindhuli meeting, Shrestha said all the parties registered with the Election Commission (EC) must be given the election symbol on basis of capacity of being political parties.

“It is an attempt to push the country towards authoritarian system to ask the parties to come and register with the Election Commission and then to say election symbol will be provided independently,” Shrestha said, adding “The Naya Shakti will fully oppose this and not let the election take place.”

He also accused the government of failing to create an atmosphere conducive to election. RSS
