As per the results of the vote count held till late Friday night, CPN (UML) candidate, Mina Upreti, was elected the deputy mayor.

Acharya garnered 20, 776 votes against 19,422 votes obtained by his closest rival, Bishnu Prasai, from UML.

Deputy Mayor elect Upreti obtained 19,094 votes to win the election. Her closest contestant, Durga Khatiwada, from Nepali Congress garnered 19,077 votes, according to District Election Office. RSS
