This is the first meeting of the NRA with its partners since new chief executive officer Yubaraj Bhusal assumed office on October 24.

During the interactions, the new CEO assured that the change in the NRA leadership would not affect its schedule, hoping for constructive support and cooperation from all its development partners.

“We have planned to shift some 60 percent of quake survivors to their own concrete houses before the arrival of upcoming monsoon”, he said, adding that further support from development partners was essential to meet the objective, however. Help from development partners was essential to produce skilled human resources required for the reconstruction works.

During the meeting, representatives from NRA development partners–the United Nations, European Union, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Development for International Development (DFID), UK, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and from China and India–pledged to cooperative in the NRA works in future, too.

On the occasion, NRA former CEO Govinda Raj Pokhrel who quit the office after serving nine months there to start a political career was bidden farewell on behalf of development partners. The new chief vowed to give continuity to good works launched by the erstwhile chief. “Pokhrel had done a lot to bring the NRA to the current position and my efforts will be centered on further accelerating it.”  (RSS)
