Three injured, 35 lathis seized during demonstrations in capital

Kathmandu, May 16: Two people were injured in police intervention carried out to check the crowd that pelted stones at police in course of the Singha Durba ‘gherao’ programme organized by the Federal Alliance Nepal on Monday.

The demonstration of the Alliance including Madhesh-centric parties and parties/organizations based on ethnicity began on Sunday.

Anil Dhungana of Taruka-8, Nuwakot was arrested for pelting stones at police. Likewise, police seized 35 lathis that the demonstrators had carried with them from Thapathali chowk, according to Central Police News Room.

Meanwhile, a youth was injured after the demonstrators assaulted him on the charge of infiltrating the event. Ram Prasad Poudel,23, of Pali-8 in Arghakhanchi has sustained injuries to his eyes and is undergoing treatment at the Nepal Eye Hospital in Tripureswar.

Likewise, another youth of the locality and B.Sc. student at Tri-Chandra college, Prakash Adhikari was taken into control by the demonstrators and handed over to police. RSS
