Kathmandu, Aug 10: Former Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli today said that the government that he led was toppled against the wishes of people.

“There was no any economic and social reason to change the government. Nor it happened due to a failure to deliver and maintain peace and security,” he said, adding that there was no apparent need to bring down that government.

Oli was speaking at a programme organised by the Press Chautari Nepal in the Capital.

He claimed that his government raised the country in terms of country’s self-esteem, national interest and development.

The CPN (UML) chairman also warned that conspiracy was being hatched to try to carry out activities that would disturb community and national unity and cause political and constitutional bitterness.

On the decision of the present government to withdraw the names of 14 persons of political background recommended by the former government for the post of ambassadors to various countries, the former PM said that the decision was a mistake.

The event was also attended by UML General Secretary Ishwar Pokharel, Secretary Pradip Gyawali, Chief of the Publicity Department Yogesh Bhattarai and Vice Chief Surya Thapa. RSS
