
The candidates are vying from quotas of various political parties for various positions in the municipality. They include from the Board of Directors of Mechi Cooperatives and its share holders.
Khom Prasad Bagale, founding member of the cooperatives and Gita Adhikari, member of the board of directors, are competing from CPN-UML for the post of mayor and deputy mayor in the municipality respectively.
Other candidates are fighting for ward chairperson from Nepali Congress (NC), CPN (Maoist Center) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), said Bagale. Those candidates running for various positions in the municipality are 16 from the UML, eight from the NC, three from the RPP and one from the Maoist Center, he added.
