Local level election: NC wins major posts at four levels in Sunsari

In the second phase of local level elections held on June 28 here, the Nepali Congress ( NC) candidates have been elected to the post of mayor and deputy mayor in Inaruwa Municipality. In the Ramdhuni Municipality,  the NC  candidate has been elected to the post of mayor  while the post of deputy mayor has been clinched by the CPN (UML).  The formal announcement of the poll results in both municipalities is awaited.  

Likewise, NC candidate Gaffar Ansari has got elected to the post of chair at the Dewangunj Rural Municipality that lies in the southern part of the district with 5,652 votes while his nearest rival Hem Narayan Mehata of Federal Socialist Forum Nepal (FSFN) obtained 3,635 votes. The post of vice-chair has also been won by NC candidate Rimjhim Kumari Bhagat who secured 5,096 votes against 2,976 votes secured by her nearest rival FSFN candidate  Sunita Devi Mehata.

Likewise, NC candidate Shree Prasad Yadav has won the election at the Gadi Rural Municipality. He obtained 5,052 votes against 4,064 votes of his nearest rival Bir Narayan  Chaudhary of Nepal Democratic Forum to win the post of chair.  The NC has also won the post of vice-chair with party candidate Raj Kumari Chaudhary becoming victorious in the election by securing 4,819 votes against her nearest rival Lalo Tharuni who finished the election with 3,655 votes. 

As per the latest updates of vote counting of the Itahari Sub Metropolis, CPN (UML) candidate for the post of mayor, Dwarikalal Chaudhary, has so far registered 11,274 votes to his account while NC candidate Rohit Prasai following him with 10,578 votes .

Similarly, UML candidate for the post of deputy-chair, Laxmi Gautam is leading the counting with 10,809 votes and NC candidate Bimala Dhakal is lagging behind her with 9,976 votes.RSS
