The Centre had bought the ambulance five years back with the financial support provided by the Bardia National Park, the National Trust for Nature Conservation, Chhatiwan community forest users committee among other organisations.
Centre in-charge Mohan Bahadur GC said they have not been able to repair the ambulance for lack of funds. He added that halt in the only ambulance service in the rural municipality has caused problem to locals in case of emergencies.
“We get phone calls from people at night pleading for ambulance. But we are helpless other than saying sorry the ambulance service is not available at present,” GC said.
According to him, they have informed the rural municipality office of the problem and asked for money to repair the ambulance. But their request has fallen on deaf ear, GC said.
