Man finds Rs 50,000 cash and cheque for Rs 59,000, returns them to owner

Myagdi, A man found Rs 50,000 cash and a cheque for Rs 59,000 and returned them to the owner.

Jhalak Sharma of Raghuganga rural municipality-2 found a handbag containing the amount, the cheque, two citizenship cards, a mobile and some documents, on the streets along the Beni-Galeshwor road section.

The bag belonged to Riya Thapa of Annapurna rural municipality-3. She had lost her handbag while travelling on a bus to Dana from Beni.

Later, Sharma returned the handbag, money and other materials to Thapa in the presence of the police and local people’s representatives at the Galeshwor police office, said the police.

Sharma, who runs a construction business in Beni, found the handbag while returning home on a motorcycle and he returned it to the owner through contact number written on the back of the cheque.

“I contacted the handbag owner by dialing at phone number written on the back of the cheque. She (Thapa) was not aware of her missing handbag until I told her about it over the phone. I handed it to her in the presence of the police and people’s representatives,” said Sharma.

Shortly after being informed about the finding of her handbag, Thapa rushed to the police office to receive it.

She and ward chair of Beni Municipality-9, Bel Bahadur Chokhal thanked Sharma for his act and the cooperation. RSS
