Kathmandu, March 18: In the run-up to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s upcoming China visit, disgruntled United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) leaders met with Chinese ambassador to Nepal Wu Chuntai at Shangri-La Hotel in the capital city today.
During the meeting, the UDMF leaders drew attention of the Embassy of China in Kathmandu to their demands and submitted an 11-point memorandum.
The delegate includes Madhesi People’s Rights Forum (Republican) Chairman Raj Kishor Yadav, Federal Sadbhawana Party Chairman Anil Jha, Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party leader Sarbendra Nath Shukla, Federal Socialist Forum Nepal leader Rajendra Shrestha and Sadbhawana Party leader Manish Kumar Suman among others.
After the meeting, leader Suman said that they drew attention of the Embassy to human rights violation during the recent Madhes protests and challenges remaining in the implementation of the constitution.
In response, Chuntai said that he was aware of UDMF’s demands and that he would relay the matter to the Chinese government.
He also said that the Chinese government may inquire about concerns of the UDMF during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s China visit.
Chuntai also told the UDMF leaders that Chinese government was working on expanding peoples’ relations of both China and Nepal. RSS
