Bhaktapur, Oct 15: On the occasion of Kojagrat Poornima, the last day of Bada Dashain festival, President Bidya Devi Bhandari visited the Nawadurga temple of Bhaktapur today and performed pooja of Nawadurga Bhawani, and received Tika and Prasad on the occasion.
Head of the Nawadurga temple Tej Maya Banmala helped President Bhandari perform the pooja and make the darshan of Nawadurga while priest of the temple Julal Karmacharya handed over the Jamara and tika, flowers, bimiro and pancharangi or five-coloured thread to the President.
Earlier, upon arrival at the temple premises, President Bhandari was received by Chief District Officer Tej Prasad Poudel, Superintendent of Police Kiran Bajracharya, Local Development Officer Dhruva Bahadur Koirala and Head of Guthi Office Lekhnath Sapkota, among others.
On the occasion, President Bhandari gave the head and priests of the temple dakshina of Rs. 505 each. The President had reached the temple premises at 4:10 pm and left at 4:30 pm.
In their brief meeting with the President, the devgans of the temple shared their poor condition and demanded that the government provide them with proper financial support.
In response, President Bhandari summoned the Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation and Culture, who was also present on the occasion, and directed him to make necessary arrangement to address the concerns of the devgans. RSS
