Kathmandu, Dec 2: The main opposition CPN (UML) and others CPN (ML) and Rastriya Janamorcha obstructed the House business today as well.
With the commencement of the meeting, CPN (ML)’s lawmaker CP Mainlai said the constitution amendment proposal brought by the government is wrong.
Likewise, leaders of the Tarai Madhes-centric parties expressed their concerns over the proposal to separate hilly districts from the Province No 5.
Nepali Congress lawmaker Ramhari Khatiwada objected to Mainali’s statement that “The Prime Minister is bitten by mad dog,” repeatedly urging the House to remove the statement from the record.
The NC and CPN (Maoist Centre) lawmakers backed Khatiwada. In response to Khatiwada’s appeal, Speaker Onsari Gharti directed the parliament secretariat to delete the statement which she said came against the parliamentary discipline from the record.
In the today’s meeting, the Speaker was scheduled to read out the details of a letter received from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers regarding the Cabinet expansion before the House.
Likewise, deliberations on the impeachment motion against Chief (presently suspended) of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Lokman Singh Karki was in the agenda of the session.
Though the Speaker urged the opposition parties to let the House run its business smoothly as the constitution amendment proposal was not in the meeting agenda, the oppositions continued to obstruct the House proceedings, forcing the Speaker to postpone the session.
The next session has been called for 1:00 pm on December 4. RSS
