Kathmandu, Dec 10: Shanti Education Initiative Nepal(SEI Nepal) handed over a school building to Seti Devi Lower Secondary School, Simthali VDC as a part of “Post Earthquake Reconstruction/Renovation Project of Schools 2015/16” on 6 December 2016 amidst a function organized at the school premise.
SEI Nepal has been supporting different schools by renovating and reconstructing the buildings, installing new furniture, white boards, drinking water system, replacing leaky roofs, fixing toilets, providing intensive teacher training and mobilizing creative national and international volunteers to promote quality education.
In the aftermath of the recent april earthquake it has been working on “Post Earthquake Reconstruction/Renovation Program of Schools 2015/16” to reconstruct/renovate 22 school buildings worth NRS.2,75,00,000 in rural parts of Lalitpur, Kathmandu, Dolakha and Kavre districts to bring life into normalcy.
Till date it has already completed 14 projects and other are in the verse of completion.
Prem Khadka, principal of the school, expressed a hearty gratitude to SEI Nepal for helping the school to run the classrooms in condusive atmosphere.
“My students were compelled to study outside under open sky in rain, windy, direct sun and chilly weather conditions . But now the time has changed. Safe and warm classes have become possible with the only support of SEI Nepal” he said.
Rachana Maharjan, Executive Director of SEI Nepal, briefed the expense details of NRS.28,36,208 invested under different topics during construction.
Similarly, its treasurer Bijaya Babu Shiwakoti poured his happiness and gratitude to financial supporter Ami Corp for extending their helping hands to provide the school children a sound environment to enhance the quality of education. He pledged the school to continue the support from SEI Nepal to the school with other educational materials and software programs in future.
Resource person and the chief guest of the program, Laxman Dahal, admired the work of SEI Nepal. “I am very happy that SEI Nepal has constructed such a nice building in this remote, abandoned place of Koshipari, Kavre district” he said.
