The fire destroyed 27 shops that include food stores, canteen, tailoring outlets, meat shops and vegetable stores, according to Kalimati-based Metropolitan Police Circle.

It engulfed 12 shutters rented by a local Brahma Maharjan. Some other shops in the area have been partially damaged by the fire which broke out from a cosmetic shop due to short-circuit and later spread to other shops, too, according to Circle’s Deputy Superintendent of Police Nawaraj Adhikari.

The fire was put out at around 10:30 pm, after two hours since it broke out, with the help of security forces, fire fighters and locals. RSS
