Bhimduttanagar, March 26 (RSS): With the enforcement of the government nationwide policy of banning the motor vehicles completing 20 years of operation, 325 such vehicles have been send off the roads in Mahakali Zone.
According to Mahendranagar-based Office of Transport Management, Mahakali Zone, monitoring teams have been formed for surveillance of 20-year-old motor vehicles.
Earlier, the office had issued directives, asking owners of such public vehicles to submit engine numbers to it before March 15.
The office has been working in coordination with the traffic police to enforce the policy effectively, office employee Nanda Raj Bhatta said.
The Department of Transport Management decided to ban the operation of two-decade-old motor vehicles bearing in mind their contribution to increasing air pollution and number of road accidents. It may be noted that Motor Vehicles and Transport Management Rules- 1997 was revised to find a room to put a ban on old vehicles.
