
Kathmandu, April 4: Former Industry Ministers have recommended placing emphasis through new budget for the set up of an industrial corridor in each province.
At a discussion organized here on Monday by the Industry Ministry, they underlined that the new budget should focus on the plans to establish factories related to paper, herbals, cement and energy.
On the occasion, former Industry Ministers Keshab Prasad Badal, Shanker Koirala, Karna Bahadur Thapa and Mahesh Basnet said that the government offices should use domestic products and goods even if they need to pay extra 25 per cent.
The upcoming budget should also promote operation of meat processing industry and manufacturing leather products and advancing concrete plan for the operation of public industries and enterprises.
At the programme, Industry Minister Som Prasad Bhandari said industry enabling environment would be created through new budget by reinvigorating industrial sector that has been in stagnation following the earthquake and blockade.
He also stressed the need of expanding industry to facilitate economic development of the country. RSS
