Itahari, April 10: The Ministry of Home Affairs today launched a two-day security conference in Dharan of the Sunsari district to prepare a new security strategy for eastern region of Nepal.
The meeting is being participated by all 16 chief district officers from eastern Nepal, Nepal Army representatives, Armed Police Force (APF), Nepal Police and the Chief of National Investigation Department (NID).
The meeting will delve into the emerging security challenges and comprehensively discuss on ways to tackle it.
At the meeting, Home Minister Shakti Basnet underlined the need for a dynamic change in security strategy to suit the changing times.
He spoke of the increasing activities of ‘some political groups’ to incite violence and obstruct constitution’s implementation process.
Minister Basnet further said the political parties should join hands to assure a reliable peace and security scenario, and usher in economic prosperity in the country. RSS
