Kathmandu, April 19: The followers of Jainism today marked the 2615th birth anniversary of the founder of their religion – ‘Shrawan Bhagwan Mahavir Swami’.

On the occasion, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Ananda Prasad Pokharel, attended a ceremony held by Nepal Jain Council and Bhagwan Mahavir Jain Niketan.

Jainism or Jain Dharma is an ancient religion which believes that way to liberation from the cycle of life and death – which in turn leads to divine bliss – can be achieved through life of harmlessness and renunciation. It prescribes the path of ahimsa or non-violence. RSS
