Addressing the Fifth General Assembly of Non Resident Nepalese Association, US in Dallas, Minister Mahat noted that the role of the Nepali people living in the nook and corners of the world could be of paramount importance in the campaign that will see the advancement of the agenda of economic development through implementation of the new constitution in Nepal, Minister Mahat’s Press Coordinator, Yek Raj Pathak, said in a statement.
Underlining the need for every Nepali to unite and work together for expediting economic progress in Nepal – which has lagged behind in economic development due to past conflict and various reasons – Minister Mahat emphasized the support of the NRN in the campaign as important.
He said the rumour that investment friendly environment was absent in Nepal did not hold any truth and rallied for support from the NRN in development campaign citing the influx of foreigners wanting to invest in Nepal.
The Minister also referred to the unfounded charges that the subject of nationality in Nepal was being unnecessarily raised and that the government was shifting the foreign policies here and there, and added, “Nepal’s foreign policy has not tilted anywhere, it has only tilted towards Nepal.”
At the meeting, Nepali Ambassador to the US, Dr Arjun Karki and NRNA – US President, Dr Keshab Poudel, spoke of the Association’s recent activities. The General Assembly was attended by around 500 representatives of the 17 different NRNA chapters in the US and Canada.
The US has the highest number of NRNA members with more than 10,000 memberships. There are around 300,000 Nepali people in the US. RSS
