Three professors among Doti jeep accident casualties

Dhangadhi, April 13: Three among the eight people killed in the jeep accident that took place in Doti last night are teachers at the capital’s Padmakanya Campus.

They are 62-year-old Dr Jaya Raj Panta, 55-year-old Guddi Panta and 52-year-old Sabitra Panta. Guddi is Dr Panta’s wife and was a reader at the campus while Sabitra was his sister-in-law (his younger brother’s spouse). Dr Panta is a litterateur and a researcher of the Doteli folk culture.

Dr Panta has many books on culture to his credit.

Also among those killed are Dr Ganesh Raj Panta, Dr Panta’s uncle. Ganesh was the former director at the Department of Livestock Services and currently working with an NGO in Baitadi district.

Keshab Raj Panta, 59, Dr Panta’s brother from Attariya Municipality, was also killed in the same accident.

They were traveling in the ill fated jeep and were heading towards Jijodamandu from Bangdugrisaina at the time of the accident which occurred at 9 pm on Tuesday. They were going to Jijodamandu, their birthplace, as per the plan of organising a religious ritual on April 15. RSS
