Jumla, Oct 27: Renovation of a small hydropower project based in Jumla is to be carried out with the monetary aid to be provided by the Embassy of India, Kathmandu.

The Embassy has agreed to provide Rs 26.3 million to revamp the 33-year-old Ghughuti Jumla Small Hydro Power Project.

The power generation capacity of the 200-kilowatt project that was constructed in 2040 BS has now declined to 100 kw due to lack of timely repair. Likewise, the number of consumers has risen from 500 (of the very beginning) to 2,700 at present time, according to Project Consumers’ Committee Chair Bishnu Bahadur Mahat.

The Committee had earlier requested the Indian Embassy to assist in the reconstruction of the project. An agreement to this end has already been reached, it is said. RSS
