
Though the meeting was called to forge consensus to bring the RJP on board the second phase of the local level poll scheduled for June 28, it ended inclusively after RJP demanded to postpone the election date.
The ruling party leaders had opined that they could discuss on managing the technical problems regarding the election but could not agree to postpone the election date as proposed by the RJP, Nepal.
Following the meeting, NC senior leader Ramchandra Poudel shared that they discussed the ways to ensure participation of the RJP in the election but failed to reach to a conclusion adding that further discussions in this regard will be held tomorrow as well.
Similarly, Maoist Centre leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha added that the discussion will be continued until Sunday as they failed to reach in a conclusion today. He further said that there was no possibility of postponing the election but RJP leaders reiterated for the same.
RJP leader Sharad Singh Bhandari said that they don’t not have an environment conducive for participating in the election as the government was not addressing their demands adding that they had signed three-point agreement with the government during its formation but no single point was addressed so far.
Present in the meeting were NC President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, senior leader Poudel, leader Bimalendra Nidhi and Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Lokatantrik Forum Chairman and Deputy Prime Minister Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar and RJP senior leaders. RSS
