Hetauda, Oct 4: Minister for Forest and Soil Conservation and Nepali Congress central member, Shankar Bhandari, today appealed to the political parties to remain aloof from the ongoing scramble for power and move forward with broader consensus to hold the elections for implementing the constitution.
At a programme held on the occasion of Bada Dashain by NC Makawanpur, Minister Bhandari called on the women folks to create pressure in their respective parties for constitution’s implementation and conservation of the forest areas in the country.
The government will hold the local body elections at the earliest to resolve the people’s problems, he added.
The Minister shared that the government was preparing a master plan to control forest smuggling and supply wood and timber in the country within the next five years.
At the programme, CPN (UML) central member, Birodh Khatiwada, and lawmaker, Indra Bahadur Baniya, said the major parties must take all the parties into confidence to amend the constitution without hurting the national integrity, and to provide an outlet to the misunderstanding with the parties based in Tarai/Madhes.
